A Drexel University professor was arrested and charged with theft by unlawful taking and theft by deception for stealing $185,000 in research grants, according to a press release from the Philadelphia District Attorney???s Office.
Chikaodinaka Nwankpa, 57, was the former Chair of Drexel University???s Engineering Department and spent funds that were meant for research on adult entertainment venues, bars and iTunes purchases, the release said.
Nwankpa???s spending was noticed when an audit of his spending showed multiple unauthorized and ???no receipt??? purchases between 2010 and 2017, according to the release.
